Glorious views, a great garden and pool and elegant taste define this intimate haven for two in lush lovely Dordogne country
It’s a painter’s paradise in the golden Dordogne triangle. This pretty cottage-for-two has one of the most glorious views of rolling patchwork landscape you could wish for, an endless outdoors perfectly balanced by cosy intimacy inside.

Restored in French country style with old stones and reclaimed windows, lots of antiques and classic fabrics, the ground-floor cottage displays its rural origins in its layout, each room leading to the next via a couple of steps.
The sitting room armchairs invite you to lounge by the wood-burner on indoor days. The beautiful kitchen worktop is made of old wine-vat wood. Susie’s personal touches are painted furniture, soft colours, seagrass floors.

Markets and museums, fishing and kayaking, hiking and cycling: the list of activities is endless – or you can sit all day in a café in Issigeac or Monpazier and watch the world go by then gather a bottle of great local wine to take back and savour on the terrace.

a little bit about the history and construction…

The cottage has been created from the original outbuildings or 'communs' of Le Brugeau.

There is a row of stone sills in the salon which formed the entrance to the pigeon loft, where young birds or 'squabs' were bred for the table.

The woodburning stove now occupies the corner where hams were smoked.

In the kitchen, the stone wall on the right hand side is all that remains of the old piggeries, the floor level has been raised to make it more practical for day to day living.

The worktops are constructed from black oak planks recuperated from old fermentation vats or 'cuves' when they were replaced with stainless steel.

The bedroom door still retains its number '1' from an earlier life in a Bordeaux hotel.

We have used reclaimed materials wherever possible in order to retain a sense of history and a spirit of place.
